Atomic Aquatics Cobalt 2 Dive Computer

Atomic has successfully created a beautiful and functional dive computer that is not only a pleasure to dive with but feels like a peace of fine artwork in your hand. When creating the Atomic Cobalt 2 dive computer the design brief criteria was structured around listening to the demands of todays leading recreational and technical divers. They certainly succeeded. Easy to see. Simple to use. Brilliant full colour LCD display. The Atomic Cobalt 2 is the newest release generation of dive computers that are easy to use, easy to read and totally intuitive.

The Atomic Cobalt 2 features a newer and much more powerful microprocessor, with faster compass response and new user options such as auto screen brightness. The Cobalt 2 also includes user selectable gas switches which have been increased from 3 to 6 gas mixes. The menu driven display is self explanatory and designed so that divers at every level can easily master this computer in just a few minutes. This simplicity is in contrast to its powerful capabilities and the many advanced user functions which are available to those who wish to use them. The Atomic Cobalt 2 dive computer uses a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery that will give the diver between 40 and 60 hours of dive time per charge and the included charging adapter gives the user the option of either USB or AC sources for power.

Designed for monitoring 6 gases, from both Air and Nitrox diving with mixes up to 99% the Atomic Cobalt 2 dive computer is ready to take on whatever types of diving you desire from recreational right through to technical diving. Included with the Cobalt 2 dive computer is a high pressure Quick Disconnect hose, the charging cable and the logbook which will hold up to 600 hours of diving. Also included is the Cobalt 2 Computer Case which is manufactured from ballistic Nylon and provides a molded, form fitting hard case which fits the Cobalt 2 dive computer like a glove and includes two zippers which allow the case to open flat. The case has also been cleverly designed to fit with or without the high pressure hose which makes it a great rugged and light weight travel case to protect your computer when it's not in use.

I'm a marine biologist and spend a lot of time underwater, day and night. I've used this computer throughout the Pacific with only occasional rinses and it has worked perfectly as advertised. Probably the best feature is the 4 button nav system, and extremely well designed software. Without using the manual at all you will be able to set this computer up in a few minutes, and reconfigure, switch units, switch gases etc underwater once again simply and without a manual. I design computer interfaces- the Atomic crew has done an amazing job here. The screen is bright with large digits, which I need as I use reading glasses on land. The quick disconnect is an exceptional piece of engineering. It takes a while to charge, and does not do that many dives on a charge (10 or so?), but it is trivial to plug in and charge after each days diving, either to a socket or a laptop USB port. You just give it a rinse and a shake and plug it in. Best computer i've owned, and over my professional career i've owned a lot.
