PADI Discover SCUBA Diving

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater? If you want to find out but aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a full certification course, then the PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience will let you try scuba to see if you like it.

While not an actual scuba certification, during the PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience you’ll learn how to use scuba equipment in shallow water and get a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world.

There is nothing like breathing underwater for the very first time. It takes a little getting used to – after all, human beings weren’t designed to do that – but after a few minutes of awestruck wonder, most participants realise just how easy scuba diving really is. The biggest challenge Instructors have with the Discover Scuba Diving program is not coaxing participants into the water, but actually coaxing them out when the program is over.

The Fun Part

It’s all fun! Plus, you can get credit! If your Discover Scuba Diving program includes an actual scuba dive in open water, your experience may count toward PADI Scuba Diver or PADI Open Water Diver certification, putting you a step ahead of the game when you decide to go for it.

What we offer:

If you've never tried Scuba Diving before and are keen to give it a go, but not totally sure if you want to commit to the full course just yet, then you may be interested in trying one of these two options. You'll soon see why so many people get hooked on diving each year!

PADI Discover SCUBA

The PADI Discover SCUBA consists of an introductory experience to scuba diving all in the confines of a heated swimming pool. It's run over approximately 1-2 hours and consists of an equipment familiarisation module, a skill development session and a scuba games session. It's a lot of fun and an excellent way to find out if you'd like to continue your diving pathway.

Cost: $250 (Includes all equipment during the program)

PADI Discover SCUBA Diving

The PADI Discover SCUBA Diving is really an extension to the Discover Scuba. It includes all of the above skill development sessions and then progresses further with an Instructor guided dive at an open water location where you can put your new found skills to the test with the fish! This experience is conducted over a one day duration at one of our local dive sites.

Cost: $399 (Includes all equipment during the program)

What You Learn

You learn the basics you need to dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional. One thing you’ll learn is that you really can breathe underwater and whether you like doing that or not. You will also learn what wearing scuba equipment feels like and how easy it is to actually move around underwater while wearing it. By finding out what it's like to breathe underwater you will learn whether you can be comfortable there. You will also learn some basic skills and safety rules that will carry over to your full scuba certification course when you take the next step.

The Scuba Gear You Use

All the equipment you will need is included. You’ll use all the basic scuba gear including a mask, snorkel and fins, a buoyancy compensating jacket that also carries your scuba tank, a scuba regulator to breathe from and instrumentation to monitor your depth and air supply. Should you select to do the Discover Scuba Diving program you will also wear a scuba wetsuit and weight system.
