Primary Display (HUD)

Each Hollis Explorer Rebreather ships with a BOV (Bail Out Valve) installed. The BOV is a “Bail-out” mouthpiece which gives a quick one handed operation from closed circuit to open circuit supplied by the on board supply gas. If the Explorer detects a problem, the diver is alerted in two ways. First is via the LED “heads up” display which provides unit status throughout the dive, signaling GREEN for normal operation, or RED to bailout. Second, the regulator in your mouth vibrates to tell you to bailout to the BOV if you haven’t already done so.

Secondary Display (Handset)

The Hollis Explorer design utilises a fixed PO2 and a semi-closed function from a single cylinder of nitrox; ranging from 32-40%. The intelligent electronics supplied with the unit have a pre dive diagnostic sequence which runs with just a few prompts to the diver. The unit automatically analyses the gas mixture, adjusts accordingly and performs a series of checks including loop volume & CO2 detection during the pre breathe. Once the Explorer is “ready to dive” the diver is ready to safely enter the water.

Hi guys I just wanted to pass on my experiences with my explorer breather. The unit does exactly what it is designed to do. It is very easy to dive in all recreational ranges. The prep and pack is very quick compared to tech RB's, especially if you have the CO2 installed. The electronics are very intuitive, and leave the diver with almost nothing to do except dive. The duration of gas and scrubber are more than enough to do NDL dives or multilevel dives back to back. The parts of the unit are well designed and have taken a beating and we keep on diving. This thing does more than some tech RB's in the way it monitors CO2 and O2. People who down play what it is and the price, are just people who have not dive the unit, so they speak from ignorance.

I bought my Explorer to continue my passion for underwater photography. Only one word comes to mind to best describe my experience when using the Explorer..."WOW!" I am able to get up really, really, close to my subjects now without the bubbles scaring them off! The quality of my macro photos have improved ten fold just because of this. It's amazing, and a lot of the time the fish don't seem to notice that I'm even there! I have used my Explorer on several overseas trips now to Palau and Truk Lagoon as well as my favourite local piers and wrecks. I love the fact that I can have significantly longer bottom times, even in winter just because I am breathing warm air. I absolutely LOVE my Hollis Explorer Rebreather and would certainly recommend it to anyone!
