Salvimar Steel Open Rail Gun

The excitingly new Salvimar Steel Open Rail Gun is a truly deadly speargun which has designed for the serious spearo who wants to chase big fish. At the heart of this new release railgun from Salvimar is their game changing new full Metal trigger mechanism. Thanks to advancements in manufacturing quality, Salvimar has made use of groundbreaking new M.I.M. technology. Metal Injection Molding now allows for tiny metal components to be obtained without the need for mechanical machining. This has allowed Salvimar to create the different elements of the release mechanism and the trigger assembly. By utilising an injection system in to the molding process, it now allows for an extremely high level of precision which was previously never achievable with older mechanical machining techniques.

The Salvimar Steel Open Rail Gun has been uniquely manufactured, specifically for our Australia conditions and the technical department of Salvimar has decided to utilise M.I.M technology on as many components as possible among the Steel ones of the release mechanism. The new visible metal trigger has an amazing design and feels positive and strong in the hand which conveys a quality which is unbeatable on the market. To fully optimise the release system, which is totally made of steel, a small roller wheel has been added to the release tooth. This permits a transformation of friction, from sliding into a rolling type, which eliminates almost entirely the sliding between surfaces. This solution significantly reduces the friction and permits a lighter and better feel on the trigger pull, which translates to even less force required on the trigger when shooting. Data provided by Salvimar indicates that the pulling effort on the trigger, considering a load on the shaft and release mechanism equal to 100 Kg, which can be obtained with two 16 mm diameter circular elastic bands, is equivalent to 0.6 Kg, compared to more than 1 Kg in the traditional system.

The Metal, micro roller wheel further reduces the wear on the metal components in contact with each other. The tests by Salvimar have shown that two surfaces of the same metal sliding one on the other, even though polished and thermally treated, if not oil lubricated, in time tend to seize, to a point that determines a change in the angles of contact and consequently an important increase in the force needed to pull the trigger. This is an incredible advancement in speargun technology and provides a highly desirable solution. Whilst on the reliability point and maintaining the correct angles between the elements of the release mechanism, the thickness of the steel case has been doubled to 2 mm, to avoid deformations and shifting of the shafts that block the elements to the case. The case itself has also been reduced in dimensions, meaning that the hole in the handle has also been reduced to further increase stiffness.

The Metal handle of the new Salvimar Steel Open Rail Gun has also been modified, reducing by 1 cm the distance between the trigger and the palm of the hand, with the effect of a more versatile grip for everyone. The barrel of this gun is manufactured from a special aircraft grade aluminum with an integrated rail shaft guide incorporated into the length of the barrel. This strong, one piece aluminium barrel that has a continuous molded rail, with unique venting for the last half of the barrel for reduced shaft friction which in turn provides more power to the shaft on delivery and a much more effective gun when maneuvering it through the water. The barrel has also been filled with a high density foam for impressive buoyancy and creates a gun that provides great performance and superior shaft accuracy. The barrel is protected by a special black anodised finish, which combined with the shoulders of the integrated rail provides additional strength.

Supplied with a Salvimar Pacific 7mm 17.4ph hardened shaft, with a rest tab and two unique shark fin loading tabs, and a heavy duty 85 mm flopper. The multiple loading notches allow for use of up to 3 rubbers for maximum power when chasing big pelagic fish. The gun is supplied as standard with two 14 mm rubbers and there is provision to add a reel setup (reel is not included) via the included integrated mounts on the base of the handle. The trigger mechanism features a stainless steel reverse style mechanism for 10 cm of extra length on barrel size and the trigger run has a micro mechanical screw adjustment so you can customise the trigger pulling power to suit your personal shooting style. The handle features a comfortable rubberised ergonomic grip, safety lock and the stainless steel dynamic line release can be positioned on the right or left to suit your individual preferences. The included sternal support can also be easily removed, even in the water, to assist with rubber loading.

The muzzle of this railgun is open and allows for much faster and easier reloading times making it ideal for competitive spearos. The muzzle has been designed specifically to ensure that the multiple rubbers avoid crossing each other and don't hamper power on shaft release. The greatest features of this gun is the superior Metal handle design which leads the market in technology and effectiveness. This gun fits in your hand like no other gun on the market as the handle has been manufactured deliberately to ensure a lowered position of the butt to maintain a clear line of sight down the barrel for the spearo. This provides superior aiming to any other gun on the market.

By far the smoothest and least resistant speargun trigger pull on the market. Just holding this gun in your hand and feeling the light and easy pull on the trigger is like no other gun i've ever used!
